All You Need to Know About Phuket Weather_ A Short Guide

Like all other beach towns and cities, the weather is the key indicator of when you should go to Phuket.

The last thing you want to happen when you come here is for it to rain all day every day, as that means that you won’t be able to enjoy the activities you planned. Additionally, the risk of flooding is real during the monsoon season, and that’s not something you want to have to deal with when you’re on a trip.

If you want to come to Phuket, here’s what you should know about the seasons so you can plan your trip accordingly:

A Brief Summary of Phuket Weather:
The temperature in Phuket usually ranges from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year, but if you’re in the sun, it can easily go up to 35 degrees.

During the early morning in January, the temperature can drop to about 20 degrees or lower, but it will heat up again around 9 to 10 AM. During the monsoon season, it usually rains around 4 PM onwards, but sometimes, it will also rain like cats and dogs during the early morning or later at night.

The Cooler Months
Later in the year (from late November all the way through to early February) is when the risk of rain and monsoon is slim to none, making it the most popular time for tourists. Furthermore, the weather is cooler during the early morning and late at night, which is when people can have fun without worrying too much about the heat.

One thing to remember is that the weather can be dry compared to the other seasons, so it’s a good idea to bring moisturizing sunscreen and lip balm to keep your skin hydrated.

The Summer
If you want to experience Thailand’s summer in all its glory, late March through May is the best time for you to go to Phuket. This is when the weather is at its peak; the sun will be blazing for over 10 hours a day.

Another great benefit of coming to Thailand during this time is that you will get to experience the hectic water festival called “Songkran” that takes place in mid-April every year. It’s a huge, nationwide party during the hottest time of the year, which makes it perfect for travellers who love to party.

If you’re aiming to come to Phuket during this time, going to Phang Nga Bay is a must, as there will be a lot of beach activities there that you can participate in.

The chance of rain is higher during these months, so it’s better to have a plan B for everything on your list of activities so that you don’t end up stuck at the hotel.

The Monsoon Season
The monsoon season begins in June and lasts all the way through to October and maybe even till November. Chances are you will get stuck inside often during these months, as travelling on foot or riding a motorbike is pretty much a non-option when it rains.

Furthermore, the waves will be much higher due to the rain and there will also be a surplus of jellyfish in the sea at this time. However, if you’re someone who loves the smell of rain, this is the best time to come to Phuket for sure.
