How Long Should You Stay In Phuket – Here’s What to Know
Phuket has been recognized around the world for its beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters. However, there are so many other things to do in Phuket. Considering your budget, you can stay for a few days, stretch it to a week, or maximize up to a month. Getting around may be expensive because of high fares, but there are various cheap hotels you can stay at and local foods to enjoy within your budget.
How long should you stay on the island to make the most out of your trip? Here are some suggestions:
- One day
If you only have one day to spare, you can still enjoy Phuket. Because it is the main flight transport hub if you’re going south of Thailand, it is the first place you’ll arrive from the airport. Visit some of the popular beaches, such as Naithon, Nai Yang, and Banana Beach. These are near the Phuket International Airport, so it is easy to go there.
- Two days
After spending a day in one of Phuket’s stunning beaches, you can go inland on your second day. You can trek to Bang Pae waterfalls and visit the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project. If you haven’t had enough of the beaches, head south and discover some of the island’s secret beaches. You can also appreciate Thai culture by having a tour to explore the Old Town Sino-Portuguese buildings. Visit some Chinese shrines, the Wat Chalong, and the Big Buddha.
- Three to six days
Stretching your days from three to six days will give you more time to explore the wonders of Phuket, especially the less-visited locations. You can experience the traditional ways of life on the east coast of the island, which is more rural and rugged. You can also catch a ferry or boat from the Bang Rong and Ao Po piers on the northeast to visit the nearby islands. The southeast coast is home to Ko Siray, which has some rustic beachfront and seafood restaurants. You can find some luxury resorts in Cape Panwa, as well as Phuket Aquarium, Khao Khad viewpoint tower, and Ao Yon beach.
- Seven to ten days
If you have more than a week to explore Phuket, you can do many things. You can mix things up from enjoying the beaches and inland sights. Take a walking tour around Phuket’s Old Town, and try learning Thai cuisine or take a sailing or surfing course. Rent a kayak or SUP board, and go snorkeling and scuba diving off the Raya islands. Don’t forget to relax and experience Thai massage on the beach or an elaborate spa treatment at the resorts.
Conclusion
You’ll never run out of activities to do in Phuket, even if you stay for two weeks. From the long stretches of sand and clear waters, you can go inland and enjoy the sights, particularly the ones that feature Thai culture and tradition. Check your budget and stretch your stay as much as you can.
