Kata Rocks Celebrates Phuket Vegetarian Festival

Kata Rocks, Phuket’s iconic ocean front luxury resort, is celebrating Phuket’s internationally famous vegetarian festival this October with special veggie set menu meals for both lunch and dinner.

The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is a colourful and visual event held over a nine-day period beginning at the start of October. Over the years it has grown into an international sensation attended by thousands of domestic and international tourists annually. Originally celebrated by Phuket’s local Chinese community, it is based around the belief that abstinence during the ninth month of the lunar calendar from meat, alcohol, and various other activities will help ensure good health, happiness and peace of mind.

Kata Rocks’ culinary team, led by Executive Chef Laia Pons has been diligently crafting two fully flavored Thai vegetarian menus in honour of this auspicious occasion. The inspired meal features gastronomic influences from the resort’s award-winning restaurant while remaining true to Thai cuisine with traditional favorites with a veggie twist.

Thai set menu for lunch (THB 1,170++ drinks not included) include a starter of Por Pie Tod, deep fried spring rolls with plum sauce and Tom Yum Phak Raum, spicy mixed vegetable soup with galangal root and lemon grass. This is followed by a main course of Gaeng Dang Phak Tao Hoo, red coconut milk curry with mixed vegetables, tofu and sweet basil.

The Thai set dinner menu (THB 1,170++ drinks not included) starter is Por Pie Sod, fresh wrapped mixed vegetable spring rolls with sweet chili sauce and Tom Yum Phak Raum, spicy mixed vegetable soup with galangal root and lemon grass. Next comes two main courses to choose from, Phad Hed Ruam Mit, stir fried mixed Asian mushrooms in soya sauce or Gaeng Dang Phak Tao Hoo, red coconut milk curry with mixed vegetables, tofu and sweet basil. For dessert fresh seasonal fruit completes both set menus and don’t forget our specialty menu of healthy green juices.
