Kata Rocks’ Culinary Cinema returns this Festive Season with ‘Love Actually’

Get ready to be moved to tears as Kata Rocks’ Culinary Cinema proudly presents ‘Love Actually’, a 2003 Christmas-themed classic on Friday 23 December from 7:00pm.

Kick off this festive season at Kata Rocks’ for Culinary Cinema and experience an innovative way to experience movies using all your senses including aroma, texture and taste. Guests receive a mystery numbered dégustation menu (tasting menu) custom-designed to enhance specific the movie experience.

The mystery boxes contain culinary surprises ranging from delicious canapé sized appetizers to flavour packed mini-cocktails. After a brief introduction on the running order by our Kata Rocks host, lights are dimmed as the film begins. As the story progresses and plot line thickens, food-matched moments are signalled on a nearby light box, designating which numbered package that should be opened and enjoyed.

Culinary Cinema menus represent a liberal and creative gastronomic interpretation meant to capture a prevailing emotion, environment, turn-of-phrase or overall feeling playing out on screen. For example, a scene where characters decorate a Christmas tree could be matched with festive season themed tapas, or other scenes featuring holiday carolers on a snowy night might be enhanced by a mulled wine cocktail emitting the rich aroma of cloves, grated nutmeg and cinnamon.

Directed by Richard Curtis, ‘Love Actually’ follows the lives of eight very different couples all trying to navigate their various romantic interests through a variety of twists and turns. The loosely interrelated tales are set during a frantic festive season month prior to Christmas in London, England. Its boasts an all-star ensemble cast with Hugh Grant playing the handsome newly elected British prime minister, supported by Martine McCutcheon, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley and Rowan Atkinson to name just a few.
